After installing the profiles, does this feature work without using DPP?

Install the profiles in DPP to use them wigh RAW images, and in the Camera to use them with jpeg.

Lightroom and other third party RAW converters offer their own CA tools. If you want to use Canon's, you must use DPP or shoot jpgs instead of RAW.
