This looks intriguing - when you guys receive yours, make sure to post some high-resolution samples for the rest of us!

If it's a solid performer in the f/2-f/2.8 range it's going to be a very attractive alternative to the 35/1.4G and 35/2D.

wonder how muhc more will the price go down after a while - the sigma 85 1.4 has msrp of $1400 and selling at $900 , this one has a msrp of $899

thats exactly why I'm not preordering, if I just be patient I could save a few hundred

Too bad they don't provide samples for any FF camera. Judging by the MTF, edges drop off quite rapidly towards the edges of FF.

Thanks for the link. It does look good on APS-C sensor but I am eager to see more samples on FF sensor.

I'm not 'too' worried about corner performance, most the time for me it'll be used wide open, but it'll be nice to see f/5.6 on a FF sensor

Yep, just like the Nikon 35/1.4 AFS:

It looks like it will theoretically be competitive with the Nikkor. We'll see how the coma and distortion and bokeh looks like.

Hopefully they have some competition for Nikon so that the prices may come down a bit.

I don't think there is much chance of this lens being anything but, I hesitate to say the best. It has all of the bells and whistles including available software to calibrate it the way you want it. The F type elements are said to equal flourite. It looks like an all out attempt to be the best. I never thought much about a Sigma holy trinity. Odds are a 24 is next. Anyway, we'll see when it gets here.

Well Sigma has been saying lately "they are tired of being seen as lesser company" and that they want to really step up. IMO they sure are doing it. First the 50, then 85, now a 35. Not to mention the stellar 150 macro. Soon most of my lenses will be Sigma.

All I need now is a 24 and I'm in heaven. Oh and a 135 would be nice. And a 200 f/2. You know what, just copy all of Nikon's primes and make them Sigma,

Will be interesting to see how it compares to the Samyang, which is significantly sharper than the Nikon 35G in the corners from f/1.4 up to just before f/2.8. AF would be nice but I wouldn't be willing to compromise wide-open performance to get it.

If it's as good as my Sigma 85 1.4 I'll be very happy. I'm hoping to make this my next lens, but need to drop some serious hints to "Santa".

As far as looks, I think it's a beauty.

that's the best reason I've heard for sigma to even exist.

nikon lenses are really expensive, and there's not much to compare them against at this point.
