p.1 #1 · Canvas and Photo Paper Printing

I have been using a Canon IPF 6300 and love doing canvases with it, although I am limited to size(that's another topic). I am wondering if I should get an Epson or Canon printer such as the Epson 3800 that prints smaller than 18x24 so I can keep the canvas rolls and Photo paper rolls on the 6300 all the time rather than switching out rolls vs. paper. Any thoughts or is this just being too lazy? Seems it would enhance productivity if I had both printers to work with.

from a pure biz point of view, have you done any sort of back of the envelope calculation as to the amount you'd save by not having to swap out rolls and loss etc etc vs. the acquisition and run costs of a 3880 ?

Is it just a matter of pure convenience? Or is it a business decision because your printing business requires a high volume of printing and efficiency?

For consistency in output, I would think using the same brand of printers would be best, considering that icc profiles can effect the final image output of a printer. Frankly, the amount of ink used in swapping and time to swap out media is pretty nominal. I run a 9900 for most all my printing needs and recently acquired a second 9890 for B&W only. I find it rather easy to swap out media and ink on the 9900.

If you've got the space---go for it!
