I would shorten the verticals but I don't want to crop below the horizon, you end up with just another tight crop with no real environment. Really could have done with my 400 2.8 IS with those shots though to blur the background more. These were all taken with the 100-400 so panning was my only real option to get decent shots, the two vertical shots posted would look much better with less DOF, looking forward to using the 400 2.8 next time.

Shorten long side to about 800px....not crop...
