p.1 #1 · Sigma 12-24 Flare

I am so happy with this lens overall. Really sharp for my needs, excellent build quality, controls distortion very well and very well within my price range. The only, though huge, problem is the way it handles flare. It produces a blue haze flare pattern especially at night and I was wondering if anyone is experiencing this and if there is a way around it.

I took this picture to demonstrate this

Never mind the dust spots, it's the D600

If you get this try shielding the front lens surface from the lightsource that is outside the picture. That should work.

Is that the first or second version of the 12-24? I just picked up the second version, and although it smells like cigarettes, it seems to handle flare better than I expected.

If it is the 1st version, it's normal. 2nd version may be sharper but has strong barrel distortion. I love the 1st version tough.
