For the first time in years we are seeing significant numbers of Evening Grosbeaks in the NY metropolitan area. It seems that the storm that we had last week plus diminishing food supply in the wooded areas of the north east (for finches like the Grosbeaks) are factors that account for this "migration" south of Evening Grosbeaks. Today I saw three female specimens in Central Park (NYC) and I was able to take a few pictures. I used a Nikon D800 with a lens 70-200mm plus a TC2X.
