#2 ranked UMHB (8-0) clinched a playoff spot in D3 football on Saturday after a 53-20 blowout of ETBU. My home team does not look great this year...but I got some great images. It was a 1:00pm HOT kickoff. It was around 85 degrees...which is pretty hot for November, right?
I tried getting on with my local paper in Lilleen but it has common ownership with the Temple Telegram and they've agreed Temple shoots UMHB and Killeen uses their images. Besides the staff photographers enjoy those shoots so they'd always get the credentials. I had hoped I could get in that way, but the images have to come from the TT.
Does it cost a paper to get credentials for a sideline shooter?
Andy...At the D3 level it doesn't. At least not where I am. Now, the schools do have the say on who gets the credential and who doesn't. ETBU is a small 1500 person school. I went there, and I know most people who work the games. I just walk right down onto the field. As a matter of fact, the school just started offering credentials to other schools' shooters this year, and I've only seen 2 of those
Thanks guys. I had my gallbladder taken out today, and was very glad to see some comments on my thread . Its going to be a long few days...hopefully I'll be ready to shoot on Saturday
Andy...I contacted a local small college much like UMHB (I am from Lampasas) and sometimes if you will email the SID and let him know you are doing freelance and working your way up and need some expereince shooting college let them know you would be willing to give them a couple of shots after the game they will hook you up with them.. I am not sure how it is there now and UMHB may have grown a lot since I was there but it's worth a shot.

Generally at the DIII level, the conference credentials photographers.
Jeff, First of all, praying for your recovery. Secondly, very nice set here. So nice to see daytime football after all of us have batled our way though the fall in relative darkness of high school "lights."
Some nice color here and some good captures, too.
Heal up -- and don't rush back too soon. Your health is too important to you and your young family.
I was really sore yesterday and tried to go on a few walks to keep my body active...I over did it. I'm shooting an event friday night, but its super easy... Its a fundraising event and my job is to...shoot people riding a mechanical bull. A few hours of standing with my camera on a tripod and my AB's being bounced off the ceiling of an outdoor covered rodeo arena thing.
BUT, I'm supposed to cover another day game on Saturday. I have my fingers crossed. I think I'll take minimal equipment and a camping chair. I'll shoot some and sit some. I think I can handle it. I probably WONT go up to the press box. Its a lot of stairs for this busted gut.
