Some autumn tree flying
Although Hurricane Sandy did not flood the local pond and downstream river as much as heavy rains did last year, I thought these pictures appropriate post-Sandy to see that Bald Eagles can, and do fish in white water. If you thought they wouldn't be active, you would be wrong. These were taken with about 25 or so flood gates open (I forget the exact number) after heavy rains after Thanksgiving last year.
These are pretty massive crops so I'm not worried about details, etc. This is only to show that when you got to eat - you got to eat.
First pic the eagle lines up lunch. That white water is way over his head and there is much debris in the water.
This is TWO minutes later, not the same burst. But, you get the point. Second pic he goes deep - real deep - VERY DEEP. In fact, it looks like he is about totally under water.
Fear not, he gets lunch.
