I got my D600 today... I'm trying to get some settings to be like they are on my other nikon cameras and can't find them in the menus.
1. I want the upper display to show on the main main LCD when you turn the on-off button all the way to the right. I just can't find this...
2. I want it so that when you hit any button like the WB button you don't have to hold it down to make changes. One click, turn the dial, click to turn off.
3. I know this is basic, but I can't find the setting that causes the photo to display automatically after hitting the shutter.. I thought I had it, but it didn't work.
I'd give my left one to get a 100% magnification of the exposure with one click of ANY button - have it on the center OK button on my D300s, but miss that greatly on the D7000 and now the D600. Any way to program that for ANY button? If not, how many clicks of the magnify button gets you to 100%?
Also got a 70-200mm VRII with this camera. I'm in heaven so far!
so when is the next concert/musical theater show that you are going to shoot? waiting impatiently to hear about the AF performance as well as see your lowlight results!!!
congrats on the new toy (and the lens...wow, you are in heaven). i'm afraid you're keeper rate is going to go up to the point that you're going to need a bigger hard drive (good thing they are cheap).
It takes 7-8 clicks to get to 100% on the D600... kind of a pain but I think most will get used to it. Hopefully Nikon will change the firmware a little bit and give us instant 100% zoom with the OK button.
It's something that has been brought up a lot by D600 owners, and it definitely is a feature that they left out. I haven't used a D7k, but from what I remember reading, it doesn't have that function either.
I own a D7K and it does it. I use this feature all the time because my eyes suck and prefer looking at the LCD over the tiny display at the top. Grrrrrr.
Oh, sorry about that, guess I should have re-read the original post. I'm not sure now to accomplish that, as it isn't a feature that I really use/need. Hope you find what you're looking for though.

What's wrong if you do this by pressing the "info" button underneath Lv button?
Mishu - we posted simultaneously. Yes, I'm embarrassed. I never used the info button on my other bodies.. just the on-off button to get the display. I forgot about the info button. Duh.

Glad you found it! Even I miss as well the 100% view from OK I must confess that D600 is unbelievable good. I used to shoot D700 for more than 4 yrs and I have D800 from the very first day but D600 is now my daily workhorse while D800 stays fo specific jobs when I need that resolution. D600 files are as good as D800 but much faster to PP and I love the smaller factor body.
Would you mind to share how you solved this:

It will be awhile before I shoot a show, but just testing it is remarkable. B
rats...hoping to get some firsthand feedback from the trenches. if you get a chance, i'd definitely like to hear your thoughts on the AF. still on the fence (althought the package that costco is offering is calling me to at least take a test drive). sort of wish that i'd never borrowed that d700 now.....
how's the shutter noise? i've heard that the q mode is for single shots only?
