This looks 3D-ish to me, eh ?
Perhaps that is the result of combining 1DX (super "reach") with 50 f/1.0 (super fast). Who knew ?

You have a good eye, Canon pants......that was probably the effect of gusts /swirls of wind which blew some leaves around, as I had a rather low shutter speed.

Without a doubt Peter, it's got that 3D look-n-feel...
Love the image, the colours remind me of Agfa film back in the day!
A classic, well composed image with depth fore and aft beautifully OoF.
Print that on a bit of canvas and you've got a beautiful image...for my living room
That's one gem of a lens...image well seen sir!
Jerry

Thank you, Jerry, much appreciated.
I am also looking forward to the opinions of our resident 3D experts: SKumar and Dan G Mitchell.
Mind you, if people do not see it, that is cool too. It's only a dumb picture after all.

Guess I will have to dig out those 3D glasses from the last 3D movie I went to.

It's a simple magic trick, one of ultra thin DOF, that only a master with vision can produce...
Then again could be just novice luck...not

Well, this "suggestion of 3D" has several components in it, I guess.
See, this one is a similar scene, the same equipment, the same settings, but I do not get a 3D feel from it.

Peter,
That would be the fence, it's complete in-focus presence across the image, defeating the 3D look.

Your 1st image has separation between the bench and tree, thus drawing your eye full front to back, your focus point, composition, is the magic!

It's also the sparseness of the 1st scene that lends to the 3dish look!
The old barn in the 2nd image distracts IMO...

That is one speshul lens Peter, a nice piece of glass in your amazing collection...much like the 200 f1.8...pretty dreamy!

That will work; dreamy! I like them both and see agree with some of what you speak of image 2, yet I really like the second image also.

Thanx, Tom, I hope this rain will subside tomorrow so we can do some more outdoor fall photography.

Peter, I'm guessing the locations of these images are close at hand? If so might I ask a favor, might you shoot both again with the 200 f1.8 if there is enough clear area to do so. It might be interesting to see if the short tele can produce the 3Dish effect given it's compression vs the 50s lack thereof!

Teach me ole ObiKal

@ Tom, I like both shots as well, actually don't remember Peter's imagery ever disappointing!

A good idea, will do, rain permitting, just I need to remember to stop 200 f/1.8 down some because otherwise it tends to obliterate any background features..

Thank you kind ObiKal
Also Peter, obliterating OoF areas (that creamy bokeh) of the 200 @ f1.8 might give a more 3Dish effect to the 2nd image...IDK, Jr image making thinker here, I could be completely off my wheels?

Peter, i see both in 3D-ish ...maybe a little local sharpness so the eyes can see the effects before the brain.

My contribution for this thread... Whatever D-ish-name you call it
