Utah needed a win and got it against a Pac-12 foe. Hope this turns the tide. 10 shots from the game.

1. The Halloween season is quite long this year.

2.

3. Reggie Dunn ran back two kickoffs for touchdowns, each a bit more than 100 yards, though apparently the NCAA doesn't consider how deep in the end zone the player is when he receives the kickoff. This is from one of the runbacks.

4.

5. In the dust is the guy who was supposed to make the tackle after the catch. Didn't happen.

6. And this was the receiver's display after the play. Wild Kingdom.

7. The fumbler....outside looking in.

8. Calling the signals is the true freshman for Utah. Big kid, finally looking comfortable.

9. Not much positive happened for Cal, but this was a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.

10. I know they're an institution within the institution of college football, but every once in a while I wonder what it is, exactly, that cheerleaders add to the spectacle. Or maybe not...

Russ,

This probably seems like a something stupid to many shooters, but I really like the way you managed to handle the glare from those darned facemask visors. So many times, you get what looks like a great shot -- only to have the glare from a light obliterate the eyes. Yours are spot on.

The only one I am not crazy about is number 9. Looks a bit soft -- especially compared to the sharpness of all the others in the set. Maybe a touch of motion blur too.

All my best, Rick

Always enjoy your work and your help on my threads as I progress (hopefully).

The one thing that stood out to me were the crops you chose. No matter the size or orientation the subject was well presented.

Personal taste might be a tad looser on #1 crop.

Thanks for sharing as always.

Russ, again nice job. You were in the right spot again for some beautiful shots

Right now most of us here on the east coast are " hunkering down" with this storm

Take care, Bob

pdxammo: Thanks.

Rick: Thanks for your comments. Definitely some motion blur with #9, and his face isn't as clear as I would like. About the visors, nothing to do but hope fur just the right angle to avoid the glare from the lights. Definitely an added obstacle.

MakoShark: You're welcome. Thank you for your feedback. There are times when I think it's all about the cropping. It's very unusual for me to have a shot that does not require some type of cropping. The resulting framing is what can make or break the shot as far as I'm concerned. With #1, that was a case where I turned around and there he was. I needed a quick grab and used the lens at hand--the 400. Not much more to that shot than what I posted.

Bob: Hang in there, my friend. Just about all of my family is on the east coast, so I'll be thinking of all of you. Keep your head down and your feet dry! And thanks for your comments.

Bummer! I thought you had an SI photo with pumkin head. They picked Boyd Ivey's shot, but yours looks much better shot of pumkin dome instead....
