Glines Canyon Dam in Olympic National Park, Washington, undergoing first phases of demoliton in September, 2011. A year later, the 210' tall dam is now down to 70' and Lake Mills behind the dam is gone. Total restoration of the Elwha River will be completed by Spring, 2013, 1-1/2 years ahead of schedule, and salmon will be able to fully return to the watershed after almost 100 years.
More information at Olympic National Park's website: http://www.nps.gov/olym/naturescience/elwha-ecosystem-restoration.htm.
