Yes but I am wondering why one would use it on their camera gear besides not leaving the sticky stuff? I know it's great for taping cords on the floor etc
It's used for everything. Examples: Taping gel filters, wrapping misc items, holding studio light accessories, securing, or sealing off equipment in a bag, taping off name of camera, keeping stacked items together, securing a tabletop background, marking your bags, holding up lighting cords, extending light props (hobos), making a makeshift lighting cone, ..... the uses are only limited by your imagination.
I use it on my hoods to keep them from getting loose from rubbing against my legs, while hanging on shoulder straps. A piece of gaffer's tape can be removed and reused many times, if you keep it clean. Also, the material in a good gaffer's tape is stronger than your garden variety duct tape; however, the duct tape usually has more sticky adhesive. You could look at it like this; gaffer's tape is a fine tuxedo, and duct tape is blue jeans...
I don'e use it that often, but usually have some with me. Gaffer's tape good for anything and everything. Soon I'll be putting some on my new laptop to cover part of the silly, slippery surface.

Well, a thin longitudinal strip will foil zoom creep/quiets the rattle of the fastening wheel onna grip/stops an inadvertent
MF on smaller AF lenses...yada, yada, yada. It's a lifesaver, only limited by one's imagination...I don't leave home w/o it!
I've used it from everything from taping equipment to poles, to taking the switches on the lens so they don't move to taping the switches on the lens so they don't move to securing the straps of a bag after the clasps gave out.
It truly is your best friend your uses of it are only limited by your imagination.
I use it to cover buttons on my lenses when using a remote, and I use it on backboards to help mask reflections when setting up a remote camera. I have even used it to tape a pocketwizard to a wall.
I have thought of another use for it for me I have the camdapter hand strap and the tension will loosen up after time I think a little piece of gaffers on the end of the loose strap would help keep it snug. Now I have to go out and buy some I keep forgetting
One of the many things I use it for is to cover the brand names on my cameras. It has stopped a lot of people from starting gear discussions with me when out shooting.
