p.1 #1 · Is this considered "High Key"

I seem to not really understand the concept of high key. I think this is an example, but I'm frequently wrong, so any thoughts would be appreciated to help me understand...Thanks!

both are great shots, wow

they look high key imho, one element is low contrast between subject and light

Thanks guys. I thought high key meant what Joe suggests...an element with little contrast...

Strictly speaking, i don't think either of these is quite there as "high key".
The subjects in both show some fairly deep shadow, or modeling from the "key/main light".
High key is supposed to show bright, even lighting throughout the entire image, that reduces any hard, well defined shadows.
Phil's bird is pretty close, though it almost seems more back-lit, with a little fill.
