So, you are saying that in fact 85L it is 3 times better than 85 1.8 (since is three times more expensive). I own 85 1.8 for about 3 years and I borrowed 85 L from a friend for a whole week. From the tests I've runed I will never be able to say this. But of course,if you have the money and the pride to own only L lenses,it's not a bad thing.
It isn't a question of whether or not the 1.2 is 3 times better.... it is a question of, "do you need what the 85L can do?" There is no competitor for it... Sigma doesn't make one. no other company makes one, therefore, Canon can charge what they want to charge for it... and if you are someone that needs f/1.2 or desires the look that f/1.2 produces, than you have to have it. I owned the 85 1.8 for 5 or 6 years. It was a great lens, but once I tested the 1.2L and saw the difference in the look... I had to have it.

Woaaaooww ! I would like to see a portrait at f/1.2 made with a full- frame body.
I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that all of the shots I posted in that engagement set were shot wide open.
