These cars no longer race anywhere. Peugeot killed the entire program.
I think you might be over romanticizing the demise of P1. Fine, Toyota is going to take a crack at it, pissing away 100's of million$ in the attempt to dethrone Audi. But therein lies the rub... Audi has pretty much killed the goose that laid the golden egg. No one else sees the value of investing the money and effort to go race with them.
It's extremely difficult to have an all-out prototype racing series while trying to contain costs. It almost defies logic. But seriously, something needs to be done if we ever want to see the participation levels in P1 increase realistically.
I remember awhile back (years), when the Audi all wheel drive TransAm cars were running away from the crowd. They could take lines that the competition couldn’t and in the rain, they were something to watch….the others may as well stay home.
They were banned from racing in TransAm. I used to love watching those cars run.
I would like to see an all GT car series…Porsche, Vettes, Ferrari, BMW, Lotus, Audi…etc..
