| p.1 #1 · How to buy Leica R lenses? Sources to consult from ... |
Several times, it has come my way that by friends or
a local dealer will have some used Leica R lenses!
The problem with Leica R lenses, when compared
to Leica M lenses is the diversity of manufacturers
that made the Leica R lenses. My understanding
is that Leica may have designed its Leica R lenses,
but had them made by another manufacturer. The
optical quality of the Leica R lenses varied enour-
mously. Leica made only the lenses for the M
system. Would that be right?
I usually look at Leica Wiki for some information. On
the internet I look for reviews, or on flickr for some
pics to see. Unfortunately, reviews and pics are not
Which are other sources for information you may
want to recommend with regard to Leica R lenses?
Lenses that have come my way recently are the
following. Which of them, because of optical perfor-
mance, would you ditch or keep to use either with
film or digital ??
a) 21 mm. f/4 Super Angulon. Manufactured by Schneider Kreuznach
b) Vario-Elmarit-R 28-70 mm. f/3,5-4,5 Made by Sigma
c) 28-90 mm. f/2,8-4,5 Aspherical Manufactured by "who knows(?)"
d) 35-70 mm. fixed f/3.5 Made by Minolta
e) 35-70 mm. fixed f/4 Made by Kyocera and with macro, but I don't know the maximum magnification ratio:
f) Macro Elmarit 60 mm. f/2.8 Manufactured by "who knows(?)"
g) Elmarit 90 mm. f/2.8 The RI Modell. Made by "who knows(?)", even though in the front of the lens
it states "Leitz Wetzlar", but perhaps all have that "Leitz Wetzlar" in the front:
h) Elmarit 90 mm. f/2.8 The RI Modell. Made by "who knows(?)"
h) APO-Telyt-R 180 mm. f/3.4
