p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon 600D - 650D or 60D

I am a Canon 5Dc user. Have been since the camera came out in 2005. I still love the photos that come out of it and have no intention of changing cameras. My dilema is I need a second camera and wanted to pickup either a 600D/650D/60D. The only thing I really know about any of the 3 is the 60D and like how it feels in my hands versus the other 2. What I want to know is what camera you would purchase for a backup. I travel quite often and feel somewhat uncomfortable not having a backup. I dont really care about video that much, but have not used it on any canon camera. The 60D is older than the 600D and 650D, so taking all features of the cameras have to offer, which one would you purchase of the 3?

The sensor is pretty much the same on all of those, so you should choose based on how you like it. The t4i and 60d have better AF than the t3i, but all will take essentially identical pictures. The 60d has better ergonomics, better battery life, and a brighter viewfinder. Another (and cheaper) option is a used 40d, which would share batteries with your 5Dc.

The 60D also has a much larger RAW memory buffer than the Rebels: 16 RAW files vs 6 RAW for the T4i.

60D and 650D have better AF. The 600D has 5D-class AF or a bit below.

the buffer is important in some things, like sports. Also the 60D is often on the CLP program for around $600

The 60D hands down for only one reason, the viewfinder...60D's penta prism vs the Rebel's penta mirror. Prism based viewfinders like your 5D are brighter, clearer and usually have a bigger framing area. I'm not a Rebel fan, have come from the SLR film days I've been quite spoiled by REAL viewfinders; not LCDs, although I use live view on occasion
