I don't have a Mk 3 so this is one shot with a glass sliding door between camera and subject.

That's a problem I've had lately with reflections, backgrounds are too busy/colorful.

It works okay, not brilliant, but not a complete disgrace. I've seen very similar images within a series and it can work well to add a little variety.

Not only are the other elements currently competing with the reflection but so are the colors in other parts of the image.

So make it black and white. Do it under your fill/adjustment layer options then play with the various filters and see which one brings out the reflection the best.

The fill/adjustment layers is that half black half white circle at the base of the layers window. Click on that and black and white will be an option in the menu that comes up.

It works very, very well as a multi-layered memory. Perhaps less so as a classically artful photo.

B/W does look nice (played with it) but in color, the way the MUA's blouse changes the complexion of the sea is interesting. Maybe not a shot to frame and hang but certainly a keeper.

In any case, I think sometimes we get too hung up on aesthetic perfection to the detriment of the essence of what much of photography is about.

Memories count, Robin. Lovely concept and she'll be glad you took the shot. Well done.

I am a little disappointed. I tried hard but never happy with the result on my screen. I had to use off camera flash to make it work. BUT I am excited to do it again in the future. Ideas starting to brew in my head.

Yeah, if you can use something on your side of the glass to block the reflection for her, the impact of the photo would be better.

Robin,if you have a silhouette from the shoot, you could attempt a double exposure in PS. Of course, you'll have to really massage that silhouetted part to make it work. It's worth a try.

I think had you been shooting in a shallow dof like wide open on a 1.4, with the focus tight on the girls in the reflection it would have been a killer shot. I don't hate it though!
