If Canon recalled the 1DX and 5DIII and replaced the black AF points with red AF points would you take advantage of the recall?

I've come to really like the new type of system. I have the new system on my 5D3 and 7D and I have the 5D2 and 1D4 with the old system. Overall, I like the new system better because of all the different focusing modes. However, if I could keep all those modes like AF expansion, zone, spot etc.. and have the points be individual LEDs like in the 1D4 then I would consider sending it in for a recall for that type of system.

It was a "non-issue" and the black AF points were accepted until Canon released firmware 1.1.1.

Canon sparked the debate and I have cancelled the 500L IS II - 1.4xIII - 1DX I had on order solely because of their attempted fix.

I'm out of the loop here -- having used a 5D3 for a week or so, I didn't even notice any difference from my other cameras. IIRC, the center AF point lit up and the camera beeped as I'm used to when AF had been confirmed. Did I miss something? Maybe it didn't light up. I just don't recall anything out of the ordinary, other than a different looking menu presentation.

If you had used the combo you just cancelled the order for you would realize just how much of a mistake you had made to keep you III's...red black or whatever..

I doubt Canon is going to issue a recall. Didn't vote. Didn't update to 1.1.1 yet either, still on 1.0.2.

Curious why this would cause you to cancel the order? Have you tried using a 1DX?

They have given us the best AF system yet.

Admittedly the AF system could be slightly improved by displaying red AF points, but issuing a recall to install this kind of hardware fix would be incredibly costly - I think a software fix is the best we're going to get (and they've also enabled AF at f/8 - bonus!)
I seriously can't see Canon recalling the 5D3 and 1DX.

To make rash decisions about companies that provided added options to their products?

To miss out on great gear?

Maybe just to stir the pot on the internet (aka troll)?

It is really strange that he was going to buy the gear if the additional illumination modes and F8 auto focus were not going to be added.

reading is fundamental:

"Three choices will be selectable from the menu system Non-illuminated, Illuminated (Normal) and Illuminated (Brighter)."

Sold my 1Ds III's and 1D IV's and bought 1D X's, red or not, these X bodies are the hands down best AF/smoking buffer bodies anyone could ever hope for. Just ordered my third X body.

"If it's not broke, don't fix it"

When the 500L II arrived the 1DX would have been purchased because the X is the future, and although I would miss the red AF points it was the only game in town, easily besting the D4.

Ver1.1.1 is Canon's admission that certain large photographic institutions may be requesting RED AF points after the Olympics.

"Admittedly the AF system could be slightly improved by displaying red AF points" was most users sentiment but no one was expecting ver1.1.1.

Psychics also read between the lines
