I noticed that you are not shooting wide-open, which reminds me of the back focus issue on my 5DII and 70-200 MK1 at 2.8. Are you suffering the same issue?
Not suffering from this issue, but was trying to take advantage of the sharpest aperture range in the strong outdoor light. Since I'm so used to shooting the f/4L version, I immediately assumed f/8 would produce the sharpest images without sacrificing background blur/bokeh. I stopped the lens to f/8 and was disappointed with the results. Truth be told, I'm guessing (just from looking at my photos yesterday when shooting program mode) that I should have stopped down to f/4 for sharpness. Most of the shots above were taken in program mode.
