That's OK, it would have probably cost me about $5,200 to see you (r gear)! Yep, it's quite a nice large sandbox to play in.

Don't know, but one copy is REALLY sharp at 70mm f/2.8 center frame, WAY sharper than say a 70-200 f/4 IS 70mm, f/4, hard to fathom that is not well much sharper than the 24-70 I at 70mm f/2.8. The other is somewhat less sharp but still very sharp and easily sharper than a 70-200 f/4 IS. Another copy was noticeably less sharp there than the best and maybe equal to 70-200 f/4 IS 70mm f/4.

You've got some stellar samples there Joshua, but I don't think the lens had too much to do with it.

Wonderful photos!!! (also some of my favorite places!) Can't wait to get this lens…on the wait list…but these sure have whetted my appetite, though I know it's the person behind the lens that really counts! Great jobs!

Thank you so very much, everyone. I really appreciate the kind words.

Please, please post your images taken with that lens.

I sold mine long time ago. So, i cannot give you any side-by-side comparison info. Based on my recollection though the answer to your question from me is a "yes". Sharp or sharper is also a relative term. So, it depends on the individual evaluating it. To me the difference is similar like that of the 70-200mm Mark I and Mark II. My Mark I was no slouch but the Mark II was clearly better and that goes for both lenses .

The corners and edges are not as great as my 24TSE, but they are very good. Take a look at my test here for some 100% crops of a brick wall.

Is that Mesa arch shot a blend? Says f/8, but the sunstar looks more like f/22. Great shots!

Great shots....mine shows up Friday.

Quick question of the hands on users......which filter did you go with Slim or regular?

Great fall color shots, Ben! The four corner area was really great in the fall.

Thanks! The Mesa Arch shot was just a single exposure. The sunburst definitely shows up at wider aperture settings on that lens.

Thanks! The only threaded filter I use is a CPL and that only rarely and yes, I use a thin version since it will be for my 16-35mm Mark II, as well. I did use a soft graduated ND filter in the first two shots of the fall colors in the second group but for that I just removed the lenshood and just held the filter at the lens without any holder in one hand. I used the other hand to operate the remote control. The camera was on tripod and in Live View mode for most static shots.

I use the Lee foundation kit with a 4x4 linear polarizer. I have it for my 17TSE already and had an 82mm ring for my 24TSE so I did not need to buy anything. Can't af with this filter, but that not a problem for me. It doesn't come close to vignetting on this lens.
