I prefer the first, better looking bird for one thing, looks like a good source for fly tying material.

Great eye in the second however.

The first could illustrate "grumpy" in a dictionary. The second says to me, "Well, look at that!" Might like 'em even better with a little more neck.

These are fun, I like them. Not sure on there intended purpose, but they look good. I might have shot a bit looser and cropped for composition later, but that doesn't always work.

1. Fun.
2. Improve shooting/comp/processing skill.
3. More fun.
