I see most of the lenses 300 f/2.8L IS II, 400 F/2.8L IS II Lenses have a 2nd generation now made, any idea as if/when Canon may make a newer 200 f/2L series lens? Just curious

i honestly don't see how they could improve on the current 200f/2 IS outside of possibly turning it into a f/1.8 or else keeping it at f/2 while cutting some of the weight off..
the 200 f/2L IS is, to me, the closest Canon has come to a perfect lens (cost notwithstanding).. it focuses crazy fast & is sharp basically right to the edges wide open w/ 3-4 stop IS.. still blows me away every time i see my old files from this lens. (i realize i could probably say exactly the same thing about the 300 f/2.8 mkII, or even the 400 f/2.8 mkII if you think that's handholdable)
Doubt it. The 200 f2 IS was introduced 4/08 so it's relatively new but you never know I suppose. Not sure when the other first generation long teles were released
David the fastest 200s are updated on a two decade cycle. My guess is that this prime has very low demand as compared to super teles. Those two white primes you mentioned last cycled at 12 years.
