That would be the CZJ Flektogon 35/2.4. Very nice lens, especially for close-ups. There is a CZJ 35/2.8 but it's not as good as the 2.4.

Flektogon 35/2.4 sells for more than Distagon 35/2.8 in rollei mount. Is it just the legendary status of the Flek?! but I am getting off topic here.

I have the Canon Fd 24/1.4L converted to Canon, but I am not very impressed by this lens at the moment. But I need to work more with it, haven´t used it much because of my small childs - and bad weather.
It seems to have good close up quality. But I don´t like the flashy bokeh for most images. But I suppose most fast wideangles are not much better.

Yes it is.
Conversion is typical newFD - EF conversion. So not as easy as Rokkor 58, but not as hard as the FD 85/1.2L with its special mounted back-lens.
At the moment I am not sure wheter this lens work on normal Canon EOS 5D. I think yes - but during conversion and testing my 5D mirror falls away :-)

I've seen the Flektogon going for good prices and Rollei lenses aren't so easy to adapt to Canon.

Leica Elmarit-R 28/2.8 (E55), Contax 28/2.8 MM and Zuiko 28/2.0 all noteworthy. I have the Contax 28/2.8 AE and Olympus 28/2.8 and 28/3.5 but have never properly compared them, even though it's been on the to-do list for a while.

At the end of the day I tend to grab the Olympus 28/2 for wide open stuff or the Leica or Contax MM for landscape (stopped down) stuff.

Even the Kiron 28/2.0 is sharp stopped down, although not particularly sharp wide open, so you can't go too far wrong with most decent 28's. However I think it's a lenses faults that make it interesting so in the case of the Kiron I have found it gives quite a unique look wide open as the central area is acceptably sharp (not great) but the fall off to the edges is quite significant and this alone give a kind of 3D effect that can be used to effect. I don't use the Kiron much but this 'fault' is a point of difference that can be used to great advantage in the right circumstances. The 'perfect' lens (Leica/Contax) isn't always the right choice.

I'd say it's fairly typical of a fast lens with bokeh a bit on the funky side, but I like that and I'm sure that not everyone else will. It has typical Olympus colours, ie not very saturated or contrasty but quite nice. The thing I like about it as that it is quite sharp wide open and I can comfortably use it that way. I don't have any images I can link to at present.

It does have considerable coma, which you would mainly notice at night and is gone when stopped down, but I'm not sure how this manifests itself in typical images shot wide open. Maybe this is part of the character it brings to the table.

Sounds good to me.
I quite liked 35/2.8 and 28/3.5 zuiko drawing, but it lacks in microcontrast. Having said that, close up both lenses are quite good performers.
Will go to shops tomorrow to see what I can score..

I owned CZJ flektogon 35mm F2.4 MC and wasn't impressed. While olympus OM 24m and 28mm (both F2.8 MC) were better then my canon EF 17-40 F4 L, flektogon wasn't (on 5DII). I also had CZJ flektogon 20mm F2.8 MC and sonnar 200mm F2.8 MC (both are described as legendary) and they were better than consumer zooms on canon EOS 300D, but couldn't keep up on 5DII. I sold them (3x CZJ and EF 17-40) with nice profit and replaced them with olympus OM 24mm, CZ vario-sonnar 35-70mm F3.4 and 100-300mm F4.5-5.6 for the same price. This is my landscape holy trinity. Now I'm considering replacing OM 24mm with something wider - 20mm or 21mm.

i was always a huge fan of the Nikon 28/2 and 28/2.8(AIS ONLY). Their 2.8 AIS is wonderful. Very close focus, nice tidy little package, great optics.

On the other hand- the Olympus 21/2 was one of the biggest let-downs i've ever paid money for, as far as photo gear goes.
Terribly difficult to focus (at least for shooting wide open/hand-held), and not a good performer anywhere near wide open.

The 28/2.8 AiS has floating element (CRC), the Ai version does not. There is no change in optics for the 28/2 from Ai to AiS.

Cheap build quality so it can go out of alignement, but it should be easy to fix. The lens has a very good reputation, at least for close-ups and medium range it's supposed to be really nice.

Lovely picture! I used to have an FD 24/1.4. Tried it on NEX, kind of soft, low contrast wide open. could be because of the many cleaning marks at the front.

Snagged up a 28/2.8 MMJ today. To be honest, I preferred it to ZE 28/2 I tested in a shop...but that kind of test shooting is never conclusive.
So far I really enjoy shooting it..

Here are the shots.
I examined some up close and I can see my top right corner being unacceptable. I blame it on adaptor though..

Also, I am shooting wide open at near infinity, so..no expectations there...

Sorry, nothing exciting at night in Japan..
