This is a studio shot of a live jumping spider that is common around here. It was taken using the 5DIII/MP-E 65/MT-24EX with a DIY diffuser. I had the camera mounted on a tripod and used a focus rail.

I downloaded a trial version of Helicon Focus and stacked 20 images with it. Thanks for viewing and enjoy your Sunday!

How did you convince her to remain still for 20 shots? Beautiful photo.

Thanks for the comments. She was quite tired and hungry, I think. She moved a bit, but not so much. She was released back in the bushes...

So the idea is to catch the spider and keep her for a while to make her hungry and, thus, slow and docile? How long a while? I don't know much about spiders and would not want to let her starve too long considering that after docile comes dead.

I always wondered how people got there spiders (and other critters) to cooperate and all I could come up with was low temperatures. It seems starvation may be working too. It would be good to get them drunk on something; however, again, I figure that after drugged comes dead and I don't know how much those animals can take.

Any information on calming a spider?

Thanks,

Peter
