I'm just a hobbyist and love shooting pics of our young grandson. Someone locally has one of these kits for sale for $800 . It's in very good condition and everything works as it should
I'd like to set up a small studio in a spare room and was wondering if this would be a good starting point.
I did a search of the forums and didn't come across any posts on these lights.

IMO, for that price, I would get two of these: http://www.paulcbuff.com/pkg-beginnerbee.php As you've mentioned, you're a hobbyist and this would be perfect in that price range with the added bonus of excellent customer service.
+1 for the reccomendation of Alien Bee strobes. I have 3 and have used them for >5 years with no trouble. Great customer service if you need parts, service, advice, etc.

Wow, just went http://www.paulcbuff.com/pkg-beginnerbee.php to place an order and seen they only ship by UPS. Their Super Saver shipping is $120 plus 13% tax.
Kinda kills any deal.
Anyone have any for sale and willing to ship via USPS.
