Oh so I never finished my suggestion to Buggz2k.....got lost in my own narrative. If you want a small camera to be with you all the time then something like the Canon SX260 (I own one) or the Sony HX20 (my brother says his
is best) would be good choices. In addition to being small, the image quality is great on both cameras in good light,
both are optical super zooms (20x) and have a lot of in camera filters, etc. Why do I like the Canon over the Sony?
The feel, the include everything PASM dial and ease of use for an old time film guy.
So, Buggx2k, for around $300 you get a small sensor great P & S from either Canon or Sony. My brother and I bought ours on the same day. We sit at the monitor and complement each others pics. Sometimes what he captures with this small sensor, super zoom Sony astounds me, other times the Canon stuff blows him out of the water....sometimes we both shoot crap!
It's a draw, can't go wrong with either camera. In this case it's more about feel and the finer options you want.

Oh, the title said G1X or RX100.......SMALL camera....gotta be RX100, the G1X is not in the SMALL category. Or if you want to spend about $300 less the Canon SX260 or the Sony HX20.
