p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · First timer surfing shots

I attended a Jazz Festival over the weekend at Manly Beach in Sydney, Australia. Aside from taking pictures of bands, I took my 5D3, 300mm and 2x TC to see if I could try my hand for the firs time at taking photos of some of the people out surfing.

Here are the shots - constructive comments (esp on PP'ing appreciated):

I like the set, maybe a slight contrast boost?

Thanks Amlsml,

I upped the contrast in Lightroom 4.1 - guess I could up it even further.

Were there any particular shots you thought could do with more contrast, or all of them?

I think they are okay... any increase in contrast and you are going to blow out the white water.... maybe darken the highlights and then up the contrast so the white water is not too hot

you live in a really good area to take surf photos... you kinda missed out on surf season down there but next winter wait for a good swell and you will be rewarded with much cooler pics

Thanks for the tips dpg109 :-)

I'll probably wait until there is a big storm swell predicted/reported on the news and then try to take some surf photographs - the waves were pretty tame in Manly on that day.
