Weak attempt to re-create a photo taken by my great grandfather. In my defense I was doing it from memory as the weekend was too hectic to remember to bring a copy of his original to look at.

Good try. There really has been a lot of change. Your great-grandfather must have been up on that terrace to the right of the lion. No security cameras then.

I think your great grandfather shot it from a better location to show the buildings down the street while yours shows a better view of the Art Institute and the lions standing guard.

It's hard to belive there are no pedestrians in the B & W.

Hey nice try. I think you could get a closer replica if you changed the angle to the lion and did it in B&W

A real good idea, good luck at the next go...

That's the DuSable Bridge.
In 1928 sculptures depicting scenes from Chicago's history were added to the outward-facing walls of the four bridgehouses.
The sculptures on the northern bridgehouses were commissioned by William Wrigley, Jr., and are by James Earle Fraser: The Discoverers depicts Louis Joliet, Jacques Marquette, René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle and Henri de Tonti;[33] The Pioneers depicts John Kinzie leading a group through the wilderness.[34] The sculptures on the southern bridgehouses were commissioned by the B. F. Ferguson Monument Fund, and are by Henry Hering: Defense depicts a scene from the 1812 Battle of Fort Dearborn;[35] Regeneration depicts workers rebuilding Chicago after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871
