How do you find ways to ask a female to pose(Non nude) for a photogragh.

I make small talk and just ask. If I have my iPad with me I show them one of my galleries so they know I'm serious/skilled and not a perv or something...

Well, if she insists on posing nude, agree to do some shots that way, then ask if she'll agree to a few clothed.

Which does bring up the idea that it makes a difference where you are when you make a request of a potential model.

Haha, I think it's the porn culture we live in but a lot of women assume that's what you want and volunteer.

It depends on the situation.

For example, if I see someone in a public place that I want to photograph right then and there it would be a different approach than if I meet someone at a party that I want to have come to my place on another day and time for a session.

Either way, I always carry some business cards and I start by handing them one along with a smile and a "Hello" as a introduction point.

its all about informing each other what we are wanting or not. Such she say i don't do nude, therefor you will have to go to plan b or get a model that will! if that is what you want.

Exchange ideas, make sitter feel comfortable... if you are that serious or Pro you wouldn't need to ask this question :-) but its something that very difficult to start with and something that comes with experience and also when/if you assisted other photog's

Communicating isn't just limited to words, illustrate, show a similar pose on your screen or imitate the pose. i have made a foul of myself many times doing the later in particular with preggie shoots.... looking in the mirror and neither of us are not sure who it the most pregnant one, but it breaks the ice... we have a little laugh and off we go

go infront of the camera yourself and try to feel what it is like

make sure its a good fun experience

Posing and lighting are two keys in photography - the rest can be done by monkeys

I nearly never done this in normal conversation.
Normaly women ask me to photograph them, most time nude photography. And this only on related sites.

No one asks which camera I use. Oh stop, one women asked, I told here Canon 5D, 350D, some lenses and flash equipment. But in the end we had not shooting together. Probably she didn´t like Canon?

I think it is crucial to have some good own images to show, at least some very good landscape, flower and such. Better images likely those one want to make.

Get your own website with samples of your work......get some cards printed with your name and web details......give a card to anyone you want to photograph and ask them to get in touch if they like what they see.

Or words to that effect.
Just don't sound pushy or desperate!!
