p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · What bag did I see?

I was living in China for most of the year and got to attend a lot of "official" functions. These events always have photographers (and when you're the white guy, it's you they photograph shaking hands with...). Anyway, one of the photographers was darting around an event with a military olive drab looking bag. It was slung across his shoulder messenger style and seemed to totally rest on his hip perfectly. I noticed because this guy was fast, moving all around to get shots and the bag didn't seem to encumber him at all.

Any idea what bag it might have been, or ideas regarding something similar?

- military style canvas
- over the shoulder
- seemed to be almost made to rest on hip / slightly toward the front
- not big at all, maybe full frame and an extra lens

coming from a country that produces a very high percentage of sewn articles used on the planet a photograph probably would have worked better then a rather general discription. a drawing maybe?

Yeah, unfortunately I did not have a camera on me that day. Physically the bag was a more rectangular than square. Just had the canvas flap and two buckle downs.

Yeah, lots of possibilities. You might look through the Domke catalog -- they've got several that might have been it.

It could be many brands of photo bags, or perhaps a commie army bag repurposed for photography.

The price wasn't as high as I first thought, especially having the logo on it. I like it, thanks for posting it, I bookmarked it..

The NatGeo bags are relatively inexpensive and quite well-built. I have a backpack style bag that is quite nice. Very old school without the modern frills, and looks more at home on a safari than around town.

Domke bags are canvas and come in several colors including olive drab, black and sand...
If it was larger bag it might have been their F-1X, medium sized an F2, or a bit smaller the F6

All three of these bags have a large flap that covers top/front and has two front straps with solid metal snaps...I've all three bags, my 1st the F2 I've had for over 3 decades.

Below are links for each bag, hope you find the bag
Jerry

F-1X - larger

F2 - mid sized (the original 1st design)
