p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Effects of wear on CLK pinout of E-TTL hotshoe?

Today I was looking at the hot shoe of one of my cameras and saw some wear on one of the contacts. I looked online and saw this.

So specifically, the CLK pinout has some wear. The flash seems to be operating fine but I was curious what would happen if that pin stopped working? What functionality would I lose on the flash?

Thanks!

All the pins are required for the data to go through between flash and camera, so a broken contact on any pin will disable all ETTL functions.

If the X pin is still working, the flash will still fire although with ETTL not working there won't be any metering info and power adjustment, so it will act like a "dumb" flash.

ahh... gotcha. I'll check that when I get home. If it is a problem, any DIY fix or is this canon repair services only?
