I was visiting my son in Newport Beach, CA and brought some of my gear hoping to get some shots at the surfing hot spot....The Wedge but "no cigar"....the waves were just not cooperating. However, yesterday....right outside my sons house....they were - a little....so I grabbed a few shots and then some.
I also took the opportunity to hook up with local FM'ers Tom Duffy and Bryan Crowe for a bite to eat and a few beers. Both great guys and I'm glad we were able to get together. It's always nice to be able to meet the people we interact with here to be able to put the name and face with the great work everyone displays here.
So on with the show.....
C&C always welcome for the next time I do this....whenever that will be.
Frank, impressive first effort- you're a natural, dude! 7,8,9, and the (second) 13 are my faves. Pretty obvious you'd be producing some sweet surf work in a short time if you lived here.
I agree, it's always a kick to match a 'virtual' FM buddy with a living breathing person. Really enjoyed sharing some beers and grub with you and Taylor, and hope you got some quality time in with him. Maybe next visit we can find a way to hang out longer and squeeze in some shoot time.
Thanks everyone for the "Gnarly" (as my son and his roomies say) comments. I could definitely get into shooting surfing....barefoot in the sand plus I'd gave to go for a pony tail and ear ring to get the look down.
Ben....my son and his friends tried to coax me on a board but I wasn't biting. I'd probably be in a body cast if I did.
Well....I'm back on the east coast now. Can't say I'd like to make that flight on a recurring basis.
