I got this as the sun started to filter through the trees; I liked the more vibrant colors that showed (compared to my frames without the sun), but it made the light a bit harder to handle in a long exposure.

The two downed trees are in unfortunate positions, from the point of view of composition, but I liked the photo better with them in (which allows me to include the bottom of the falls) than cropped out.

Helpful comments/suggestions welcome. [Note revised image below, in response to comments.]

I really like this. The light is wonderful and everything looks so fresh. The logs works for me too.
Very nicely done.

Thanks for the kind words, and suggestion; I very much appreciate it!

I've increased the contrast, and I think skibum5 is onto something; it seems to add depth to the photo. What do you think?

Wonderful light here, Mark. Even got a hint of fall color. Nice comp. Those trees will be there for a long time. I'm already getting used to them. I wish they would hurry up and grow a nice thick green moss on them.

The original was a bit flat. The edit is much better! Thanks for sharing.

The edited version is better. That looks exactly like some falls in western NH around the Keene area!

Very nice,I think that the greens seems a little yellow to me. This may be do to the lightening with fall coming or just the daytime lighting, but I think it would be improved with a tad less yellow in the greens, having shot that area a couple dozen times or so. Either way nice shot, you handled the light very nicely. Rick

i prefer the second version as well, though frankly, i might darken the shadows even a little more... images need dark shadows to offset the highlights and add depth. i also agree with Rick, the greens seem a tad yellow...maybe a slight adjustment to the yellow hue would give this the deep, rich green so common in the rain forest out there... love the composition, though. the logs don't detract IMHO... they're part of the natural state of things, and nature isn't always just the way we'd like it to be.

i haven't been to Sol Duc in many, many years... definitely need to go back!!

Great shot.

Sharpening for web presentation would put it over the top!

Very sweet, especially the edit work on the second one, bringing back some of the darkness. That is one nice wet place to spend some time. Hope to see it again this weekend.
