The first photo, the focus is in front of the eyes. The hair and part of the dress is in perfect focus. If you used single point focus on the eye then the camera/lens front focuses about 1/4 inch.

The crazy part about this is that the 5DMk3 point of focus changes with the type of light and the intensity of light! I found this out when I was calibrating my lenses for micro adjustment. With everything fixed, the changes in light alone significantly shift the point of focus (almost 10 from back to front focus in my case), especially in low light. This seems to be consistent with the 5DMk3 manual suggesting that you MA for the light and the actual location where you will shoot (page 109)
