EXIF says 85/1.2 wide open and 35/1.4 @ f/1.6

I shot these JPEG so when I say no noise reduction I mean none beyond the noise reduction applied in the camera......I love being able to shoot in such dark clubs and get such fantastic images!

Amazing quality. Can't wait for this technology to trickle down to affordable bodies!

What Wow's me is that Blue Trumpet. , as a former trumpet player I would have loved that thing. But, as a current photographer, I'm VERY happy with the ISO performance of the 1DX. I can't wait for the 1DZ so that I can afford the X model.

I wonder what the IQ difference would have been if shot in RAW.
I need to try...I just got the 1Dx but haven't really tried it yet.

My 1DX arrives tomorrow! I also need it fopr lower light events. Looks very, very promosing.

Also quite amazing compared to traditional 1970's murky B&W high ISO!

Amazing to get color like that under styaghes lights.

Thanks for sharing! Nice shots. Shutter? I'll look at metadata. OK - looks like 1/200.

Wow, that is low light, at 1.2 Trying to figure out the EV value, I com,e up with +1? Does that sound right? I need to start thinking in EV values for this low light stuff.

Best,
Michael

I started out with at +1 EV but quickly went back to 0,I am not sure if any of them are other than 0...I have been going to Smoke the club in the pictures for years and have always found it difficult to shoot there due to the really dark conditions..that is until I got the 1DX....for the first time I can shoot there without concern that I wont be able to deal with the lack of light.....of course the fast lenses help as well lol.....the combo of the 1DX and the 85L is magical and really allows one to shoot in near darkness....wouldnt it be wonderful if there was a zoom faster than 2.8?

In terms of Raw vs Jpeg,I have shot both in different club settings ....in the past I never shot jpeg at all but since i have gotten the 1DX I have found myself a bit lazy because the Jpeg's have been so good and obviously it is a lot less work.....The noise control in Jpeg is really quite astounding,I have not bothered any noise reduction in addition to that done in the camera when I have shot Jpeg and it really is a pleasure....perhaps one can end up saving a bit more detail shooting Raw as I always have but these shots really made me comfortable with the jpegs

There is nothing wrong with shooting JPEG, especially if they seem to meet your needs. But you should always, and I mean always, be shooting RAW at the same time. There is just so much more in a RAW, and with only a small amount of work you can bring it out. Use JPEG for quick delivery and a proof images for your shoot, but then make the real keepers from your RAW.

I was impressed before you corrected your initial claim of no NR.

Well actually, I'm still impressed -- but I would love to see what raw images shot under the same conditions would look like.
