This past August, I visited the White Mountains of California to photograph the famous Bristlecone Pines. Spending so much time in this grove was a great experience.
This photo shows the decaying root system of a long dead Bristlecone Pine, and a rock that has been held captive for perhaps thousands of years.

The dark line across the top of the image is the film sleeve. I scan the film in its sleeve to avoid scratching it.
