A quick FYI. I am using the Promaster 4480 battery intended as a replacement for Panasonic CGA-S005. Works without any modification. The Panasonic CGA-S005 however does not fit without modification.

Better performance? Better price than Sigma´s battery?

Full disclosure - I work at a camera shop.

Seems to be pretty much the same performance. Pricing in the US varies from $30 - $50 , but may be easier to find than the Sigma. The Sigma BP-41 can be had in Canada for as little as C$29.95. I bought the Promaster battery before our distributor had stock on the Sigmas.

Does anyone know what is the true base ISO on the DP2M? There's some debate about it on dpreview and it seems base ISO is 200, which seems to make sense because that's where the auto-ISO range starts, but the discussion doesn't seem to be conclusive. Does anyone know that info?

Thanks,
Andre

Don't what the real ISO is. I know I use mainly 100 ISO till 200.

One more harbour shot.

I've been told by people who really should know that the base ISO of the Sigma SD1M, which shares the same sensor as the DP2M, is 200.

Couldn't tell you sorry, maybe try asking Sigma...

I do know that I shoot at ISO100 exclusively with the DP2M and am more than happy with the results.

Aaaahh, you guys. Look what you made me do.
A local dealer had a DP2 M in store that a customer had ordered but didn't pick up.
So I thought, what the heck, I'll bite.

Also, I rummaged through my old lenses and decided that I probably wasn't going to use four of them so I sent them in as part exchange for a DP 1M that I have reserved for me. Should arrive in a week or two.
Who says long time lens hoarding doesn't pay off.

Still keeping the GXR and a few select lenses. A GXR doesn't fetch much nowadays so I decided to keep it as a fall back kit if the DP1/2 Merrills fail to impress me.

I think the same about the Ricoh. I just keep it and use it on trips together with the DP2 M on which I can't carry a lot.

First real photo trip with the DP2M to Myanmar (these are the jpegs, haven't even dug into DPP to work with these, I shot RAW + JPEG the entire trip)

does street photography just fine, thank you

bought it as a texture and abstract camera, and it is an absolute resolution machine

Hi, and greetings from Finland. I've used my DP2M for some weeks now, and gotten to understand most of the quirks I've come across. I've been reading this thread for some time now, but my schedule is quite limited to contribute at this time. If you're interested in my thoughts and some image examples, please read my fresh blog here. Thank you all for great images, tips and experiences. It's been a pleasure reading this thread

Päivä päivä, Jede, hauskaa nähdän.

Timpdx: Nice set. I've been to Myanmar though it was quite a while ago.

Ha! I'm curious to hear your take on the DP2 Merrill Henrik.

Will definitely get back with first impressions when I have installed SPP and run a couple of files through it. Batteries are currently being charged. Both were flat on arrival.

Camera grip feels a bit slippery and modding the grip seems a likely approach if I bond with the camera. Normally I don't have problems with cameras sans extra grip but the DP2 M ergonomics are not to my taste in that department. But, it can easily be rectified.

It's been windy, snowing, cold, and dark out lately so I was playing around with the camera inside when the sun finally started to shine through the window. I forgot however that I had left the DP2M at ISO 1600 from the night before. I thought it might be helpful to show more examples of the noise pattern from this camera. This is by no means a good shot. Just posting to show the noise.

ISO 1600, 1/500, f/2.8 - only minor adjustments in SPP:

Closer look at the noise (all noise reduction turned off in SPP):
