Out of curiousity, how much detail can you pull out of the right side of the white part of the lighthouse?

I've found highlights to be decently recoverable, not quite as good as my D800 but definitely decent. I've only taken about 300 shots on my DP2M so I don't have much experience, so keep that in mind with respect to my response.

Any workaround for long exposure speeds...i want to be able to use NDs, and 30 sec won't cut it perhaps....

Very nice case, but thats $165 in USD, ouch.

Will be in Japan in 4 days and still, 13400 JPY is too much. My DP2 will live naked for the moment.

What strap are you using on the DP2 or DP 1 Merrill? I'm not crazy about the oem strap and would like something a little better. On my fuji X100 I'm using LANCE rope type strap and wrap it around my wrist and use it as a wrist strap. Just looking for something a little better. Any suggestions are apprecated.

From the harbour. I was shooting the NEX-7 side by side. It is sad to say but the files are no comparison. (NEX-7 thread)

I think these guys really missed point of SD1M. Bit stupid review..

Thanks Mescalamba! Forgot to clone out that one. There was one more in the water.

And Bobu thanks for your comment on my photo!

The review ain't that bad. It is a tempting camera, although I want FF, especially with that new 35 Sigma lens, but there are very little lenses I have that are adaptable to the Sigma mount. I have 3 Leica R lenses and of course M42 lenses, but that's about it. Conurus with Contax N is a possibility but I have no N lenses.

And there is a Leitax solution for the C/Y Planar 85/1.4 and Distagon 35/1.4, so those would be adaptable that way. Anybody who did that?

Another pic from yesterday.

I have been thoroughly enjoying all the images being posted here on this forum and thought I might share a few of my own made over the last couple of months with my DP2M. Here is one of my first images I felt worthy to post.

The early morning sun was peaking through a hole in the now nearly bare trees illuminating the bark of this tree. Unfortunately, I was on my way to work so had to shuffle off. I would have loved to just sit down and watch this for a bit longer!

Thanks sculptormic!, No bears, and likely hasn't been any for many years. Grizzlies and black bears would have roamed here though 100+ years ago and maybe the odd stray between then and now.

Piper Creek is but a small creek most of the year, virtually frozen solid in winter. Springtime, however, is a different story. There will be a two week period during spring when the warm temperatures first hit the prairies in a sustained manner melting the majority of our accumulated snow rather quickly. Sometimes this is accompanied by rain as well. Needless to say, tiny Piper Creek comes becomes a roaring torrent as deep as 3-4 meters and flowing very quickly. This massive rush of water causes havoc with the banks along the creek and inevitably trees get undercut and fall. A few of the trees in this image will make it to next spring now that the ground has frozen, but next spring may find some of these regal oldies lying on the forest floor or bridging the creek.

A fresh bit of snow adds some brightness to this dark corner of the coulee a few weeks back.

Thanks Juan.

I hope that's not the last boat out - but then again, you get the whole beach to yourself!

A step back a few weeks before any snow or weather that would freeze up Waskasoo Creek here in Red Deer, Alberta. A small stone in the creek was sticking through the surface just enough to stop a leaf. Soon, another stuck to that leaf and so on. Pretty soon we have a nice collection. Most of the leaves, though, went around and continued there journey towards the Red Deer River only a kilometer away.
