Interesting times. Let's hope that the sensor delivers.

Personally, I have no doubt that a modern sensor will deliver. I do however, wonder about other things like ergonomics, AF etc.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I just checked Amazon.de.

- D600 is at € 1.663,94 now. Cuts down about 23% within 2.5 month, ranking place 12
- D800 is down to 2299 (€ 300 over 6D) falling to rank 23
- 5D III went down about 4%, offered at € 2846,97 now (-14%) ranking as # 15

I do not remember I ever saw DSLR prices falling so fast in such a short time period. Even christmas business is just starting!

Might it be that the comming 6D is the cause?

My 5D2 arrives tomorrow. I hope I don't have buyers remorse. I was leaning pretty heavily towards the 6D until that refurb sale popped up. If it was $1800 camera vs $2100 camera, I would have just got the 6D, but that sale making it a $800 difference from the 6D made me jump on the 5D2.

I'd be getting two 6D's except for that wonderful omission of the joystick. Thank you Canon, and I'll return the thanks by waiting for the 5D3 to be $2600.....

He forgot to mention one of the biggest customers for Canon where GPS is not widely allowed: China. And the wifi/GPS functions share the same unit... so both must go at the same time.

I hope you are right and it does have a modern sensor, because Canon is already going on borrowed time with their sensor tech.

Coming from a 60D, I would have no trouble adapting to the ergonomics, but it will obviously be a bitter pill to swallow for those who consider the 60D nothing else but an oversized Rebel.

I noticed that someone posted a link to the manuals. Has anyone checked whether it's possible to remap buttons? I would love to be able to remap the DOF preview button to toggle servo af or center AF point.

I find the sensor on the 5D III to be "modern" and produce excellent images.

I suspect the 6D images focusing will be better than the 5D II
also suspect the 6D images will be slightly better IQ than the 5D II
GPS option & wifi are nice to have modern conveniences

See page 322/323 in the english manual, Jaakko.
It says, it is possible to remap following functions to the DOF button:
- AF stop
- ONE SHOT <-> AL SERVO
- AE lock/fe lock
- AE lock
- AE lock (hold)
- FE lock
- DOF preview
- IS start
- VF electronic level
- disabled

So I guess "servo AF - center AF point is possible if the center point is selected (other it will switch to the selected one).

I'm actually am not a huge fan of the little joystick. I seem to hit it at times between shots which moves my focus points to places I don't want them. I'm thinking the larger more flush one will work much better for my needs.

I fell in love with it from the first time I used it, 6 years ago. For me it's a serious ommision.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I like and use it permanent since 30D, too. Not for AF points but to scroll through an image at 100%. I guess, I will be able to learn to use the new multi-controller. But I do not like it (now) and I guess I will "use" it more often in "accident", while using the quick controll dial. I would have prefered if they would have let the playback button upper left and kept the youstick instead.

Come on Ralph, someone's posting photos on DPReview from their new 6D!

I'm in the armpit of the US, with no idea where I'll be able to play with one in person...an hours drive to Best Buy, but I don't think they're going to carry it.
