Another awesome am in Lake Clark Nat Park. Today was another treat for sure! Had the awesome experience of watching this mom, bring the family down to the river to do a bit of fishing! She was all business, as she she steered the young cubs clear of the older bears. They are one cute bunch, and interesting how the middle one is blonder than the rest!! It was a thrill to watch her approach, as the sun was coming up,, and she was lit up on here right side, and the young"ins shaded in her shadow. Note the tracks behind them coming down the sand dunes on a diaganal. Poor mom, looks a bit homely with these three kids nursing. The big concern is the approaching winter! Mom is not putting on the necessary weight, and the cubs are very young, and small! My guide Scott, is very concerned, that they might not make it this winter, as mom will only be able to produce min. milk in her current state!! Fingers crossed, a miracle will happen... as this family put a smile on my face, when ever they showed up!! Click on image to darken BKG.
