p.1 #1 · Split ND grad vs blending, circular polarizer

Hi there. I'm new to landscape photography and have 2 questions

1) What are the pros and cons of using a split ND grad vs taking multiple exposures and blending them in photoshop?

2) With wide lenses (e.g., 21mm or 17tse on a full frame camera), do you use a polarizer, and if so, how do you correct the asymmetry in the sky in photoshop?

Thanks

1) I love my GND filters, but they don't work in all situations so you need to know how to blend exposures as well. GND filters allow you to get it right in camera, save some time processing and save some space on the memory cards, but it's one more thing to buy and carry around.

2) Usually when I use the CPL on a UWA lens it's just to remove a reflection off water, foliage or rocks. I don't normally use it to darken the sky at those wide focal lengths.

Five pages on it here. Rather than reinventing the wheel...
