I refuse to believe that only the central AF point is cross-type like CR suggests. Even in the 650D all AF sensor are cross-type. I also wonder why there are no CR3 rumors just hours before the launch.

Not in my book. It's right up there with B&H for me.
I agree, I was mainly being a smart ass about them being suggested as a second rate retailer.

So it looks like this is going to be a real camera. But why did Canon develop another 35mm sensor for this? Should have just used the 5D3 or 5D2 sensor. Because there is no way this is going to finally be the miracle sensor that can match the Nikon sensors or else Canon will really have pissed off existing 5D3 and 1DX customers.
I also think the AF will likely be 11 x-type f.5/6 with the centre being the dual-x type f/2.8 like the centre 5 are on the 5D3.
Anyways, this camera looks like a bit of a dud even compared to the D600 but will wait for final official specs to see for sure. CR reports that 12AM EST tonight is the embargo end....Show more →
yeah i don't understand why all the expense to make yet another FF sensor line running, now they will have three, maybe that is why they are charging so much, why possible reason for it to split 1DX and 5D3
and if they do finally have the miracle low iso DR on this wow that will P.O. the 5D3 and 1DX people royally, why on earth save that for this cam wth?? and if it doesn't why on earth bother with making it?? very weird

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
From Canon website...
Center: cross-type at f/5.6; vertical line-sensitive at f/2.8.
Upper and lower AF points: vertical line-sensitive AF at f/5.6.
Other AF points: Horizontal line-sensitive AF at f/5.6.
Both Canon and Nikon are trying to push prosumers to pay much more money on their cameras (5D3, D800) and pro lenses (24-70 II). Now you have two choices, either crap or pros.

I seem to get good pics with "crap" but maybe it's all part of a grand marketing strategy.
