Well..
Actually Leica should give up doing cameras all together imo. I don't see them as camera producers with the photographers best at heart, but the hyper rich collector's.
I'm honestly not saying this as a rant or as the product of personal bias, but as a thought that has grown on me with ever limited release Leica with the albino crocodile leather and price to match.
The technology in the cameras they produce are nothing unique to them, it's bought technology. The lenses, on the other hand, are.
Zeiss, as a comparison, has realized this and do only what they are best at and in doing so they maintain a photographic creditability Leica has lost by selling all these sub performing cameras with fantasy prices. Digitally, they can't match anything potentially out there (heck, the cameras are not even weather sealed).
I fail to feel any kind of excitement for a new Leica body as I feel they themselves have no pride in the cameras they produce, but just use them to milk the select few who can afford them and feel special owning stuff other people can't.
They are drunk on their own legacy, but it will only carry so far.
Sorry, for what looks like a rant, really.
Sorry but I totally disagree.
See how many good photographers using an M9. Also people who aren't rich but just love photography. See Magnum working together with leica.
I think leica is one of the few company's still thinking about peoples photography instead of making a camera doing it all for u.
And off course the technique in the camera's is unique to them, how many other digital rangefinder do u know of?
Stop seeing it as a FF mirrorless camera, its a rangefinder camera.
Oh, and if a small company earns money by selling some limited edition, why is that a bad thing?
They could also charge more for their lenses instead. Please let some rich people buy those expensive leica's giving them a change to develop great lenses and camera's for the rest of us.
Leica's cameras are not for the rest of us. Perhaps their re-badged (and stupidly overpriced) Panasonics are.
I don't really get what your after here? Rest of us = leica buyers or people intending to buy leica.
On topic, looking foreward to next monday. Not really interested in a new camera, but always nice to see how they develop.
