This is a 100 megapixel panorama (the image above is not 100mp, but you can download the full file at the link below) shot from the top of the Stawamus Chief hike near Squamish, BC. Shot with a Nikon D800 and Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 lens, stitched and cleaned up in Photoshop. Variation in color of the sky is due to a polarizing filter.

More detail and much larger versions of the file available here: http://photokaz.com/2012/09/100-nikon-d800-megapixel-panorama-from-the-stawamus-chief/

I don't really think it is ruined. It looks a bit funny, but it's nothing a bit of PP can't take care of. I really love the scenery.

I do the same thing with my 5Dc; stitch 85mm photos intoa 24mm equivalent and then have myself 85 ish megapixels of full glory.

Because there are absolutes of the Universe to refer to on this matter?

I know the first rule, but without the polarizer the water and ground had much less contrast. I have a few shots with the 14-24 without a polarizer I can compare with and it just looked a lot better with it than without. I think I can fix the sky, just need a bit of time.

Appreciate it, thanks. The view up there is amazing, and weather could not be better. A few clouds would have actually made the shot more interesting, but I can't complain too much about a sunny day.

Impressive and very cool pano.

I would agree that the polarizer appeares to help with the land/water but makes the sky look odd. I'd suggest shooting the pano twice, once with the cpl and one without. Then blend the sky from the non polarized pano with the polarized pano.

Cool pano...... I wouldn't say ruined, but I would strongly advise against using a polarizer in this situation.
