As a Canon shooter who has been steadily upgrading since the 20D, I'm disappointed Canon hasn't noticeably improved image quality on the 5DIII. So I will just stick with 5DII and 7D for now as they still fit my need. Despite feeling overdue for a image quality upgrade.
6D seems like a crippled 5DIII, so hard to believe image quality will be better. If so, there will be a lot of pissed off 5DIII owners out there. But I won't judge till I get to test one for myself. But really would like something with more dynamic range and resolution than the 5DII. 30ish would be nice, as taking a step backward wont cut it for landscape work.
Better auto-focus on the 5DIII is nice, but I use the full frame for landscape/portraits, and live view focus most of the time. Tested a friends 5DIII, side by side with my 5DII and saw zero image improvement. So 5DIII will be skipped by me, even at a $2500 price point.
I hope we get a better 5DII upgrade soon. (3D? 4D? 5Dx? 5Ds?) And not priced higher than the Nikons. If Canon doesn't get their act together, they may lose my business. As I have no brand loyalty, and will upgrade to the best (reasonably priced) tool of any brand.
Not interested at all in a huge heavy expensive 1Dx style camera. Will give Canon a little bit more time before I start testing my buddies Nikon gear, that I can see is getting very nice landscape photos. Been putting off testing the Nikon stuff as I don't want to sell off my Canon glass. But my patience isn't unlimited, and I love that new camera smell.
Hope they get it right with the 7D's replacement as well, as it could use larger cleaner files. In any case, love the competition as it makes both brands better.
