I don't know that I've posted much of my stuff here. I usually feel a little outgunned, to be honest! I usually just dig through the threads and learn and admire others work. I did like how this photo came out though and thought I would share. I was doing portraits of our animals. 3 dogs and a cat. The cat was particularly for my wife. He's rather posh and regal, like most cats. I like it.

I think it would take a lot to "outgun" you with this shot. Nicely done.

I especially like the composition and lighting.

One thing that does stand out - just a little - is the horizontal chair slat above the cat. It might be worth cropping, cloning or de-emphasising it in some way. Small point, though.

Great shot and perfect focus. One thing you might consider in future shots is a suggestion I read in another thread, and that is to remove the pets collar.

Wow, thanks guys! I wasn't sure about the horizontal chair slat so I thought I'd leave it and get your guys opinions. As far as the collar goes, Boxman, that was a goof on my part. He was a bit of a handful to get wrangled and I was also doing shots of the dogs (forgot their collars on too). We have three large breed dogs. Funny thing, the dogs took about 30 minutes total after I had the lights set up, the cat...well, he took 35 minutes just by himself. . I was basically doing portraits of our pets, for my wife and our family photo album. Though I like the photo of Pinkerton the best, here is one of the dag's.

Thanks again, guys!

Why do I get the idea that you were holding a treat over your head? Great shots!

Your powers of deduction are strong! It was just to the left of the lens, though. It worked on the lab and PB mix, but the shepherd is quite timid/submissive. She's happy and boistrous but any time you look at her or focus your attention at her (i.e. speak to her) she lays her ears down. No amount of coaxing will get them back up until you and the lens are looking elswhere. Well, unless she's not aware you're looking at her.

Thanks for the compliments!
