p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Anerino and Merkle do New Orleans

Hurricane Isaac interfered with my travel plans, but we made it down there in just enough time to shoot the wedding. Katie actually flew in the morning of the wedding and worked off of like 1hr sleep. I always say to Katie that "we fill in each other's (photographic) gaps." Luckily, we are teaming up for quite a few more in the future. She is the real deal.

This was my 20th total wedding (11th as primary) and first wedding I booked through Hoffer Photography as the associate. I'm pretty happy with the results of this one.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Chuck, I love your work. You're sense of timing and your PJ skills are fantastic.

do not show color ever
and
merkle is good
albeit very quiet

on a serious note I prefer your bw processing to hers... sorry merkle
#6 seems a little little bit to bright... face features are kind of lost in the light ... if that makes sense.

anyway great job as always!

Funny, Chuck and I just had this conversation on FB - I think he should do everything in color. Then again, I think EVERYTHING should be in color, and I'm uncool.

Wonderful set, shot after shot. Also caught a bit of your chat on a man to fish. Good job there too.

I am still stunned that you have done so few weddings, why is there not a line out the door!!!

C&C
Color has WB/other minor inconsistencies that you would NEVER let pass in your B&W work. It seems far less refined than your B&W shots as well.

That being said, I like 18 and the way the colors came out.

I think 36 is my favorite.

Many thanks guys!

Slo: I've only done 11 as primary by choice. My goal is to shoot about 10 a year and I just passed my 'one year anniversary' over the summer. So I'm right on target. I might increase things to 15 or so this upcoming year.

Regarding color. I'm new to LR4, so I'm really struggling to find my way with color. I think I am getting closer with this set. I contemplated doing all BW for this set, but there were too many that I liked in color.

As always, I really appreciate the feedback!

Chuck

19 is off the hook. One of my favourite images this year. 48 and 49 are lovely also. 36 is another standout to my eyes. Fantastic set of images. The motion blur stuff works well in it's own right, but I don't think it's that reflective of you style in general. I feel it's a bit of a gimmick and you could shoot the dancing in a different way given your strengths. For me there's a big difference between 40 (which screams Chuck to me) and 44 which doesn't. Just my thoughts.

As others have said, you're sickeningly good. I hate you a bit.

P.S. I've just looked a bit harder and decoded what exactly is happening in image 18. Woah. That is freakishly awesomely good. I bet you were pscyhed when you nailed that bad boy!

Thanks Tony! Totally appreciate the honesty!

I told Merkle that she'd steal the show with that one. She was trying to explain to me what she was going to do and I think I said 'ahahaobueawreapwouesbph' and walked away.

Reception lighting is something where I dont really know where I want to go with. I feel like I do 'just ok' with it. I do love the look of the dragged shutter. I think its fitting for this particular wedding. I actually shot a more standard, cross lit reception a bit earlier...but then they brought a brass band in and they TORE THE FUCKING ROOF OFF! The energy was awesome.

Thanks again man! Always appreciate it!

18 - 19 - 24 - 38 FTW.

Shutter drag shots at reception are not shutter dragged enough. Streaks are too short IMO. Could be a matter of taste. I usually use around 0.4th of a second.

Superb stuff as usual, great work on composing the prep shots.
