I would like to know if the ZE 15 has a hard infinity focus (focus locks at infinity with ring turned all the way), and field curvature, if any, at f/2.8. These two factors are especially important when shooting Auroras in pitch dark conditions.
I can't speak to the field curvature, but focusing with live view..I have to back off from the stop slightly to get sharpest focus, very similar to my 21mm.

Pretty tired...and can't really do waterfalls straight out of camera, here's a processed shot from the Zeiss 15mm. Shot with a Canon 5D II and a polarizer @ f/11.
Well, there was a batch going out (from which mine came from). Zeiss was saying delivery by mid October, I assume this was to dealers. Hope you get one from that batch. I ordered mine in March, so it seems like it's been an eon.
